Navigating Betrayal: Ed Sheeran’sA Little More‘ and Its Haunting Sequel

The music world is once again buzzing with the arrival of a new Ed Sheeran single, “A Little More,” a compelling pop-blues concoction that dropped in August 2025.

This song isn’t simply another entry in his catalog; it’s a masterclass in lyrical depth and emotional honesty.

Sheeran, known for his ability to craft poignant narratives, delves into the painful and gradual process of detaching from a toxic relationship.

The lyrics, full of biting wit and sharp insight, explore the themes of self-preservation and moral fortitude, perfectly capturing the slow-burn of resentment that follows betrayal.

A memorable line like, “I used to love you, now every day I hate you just a little more,” encapsulates the core sentiment, a bittersweet farewell to a painful past.

Directed by Emil Nava, the accompanying music video is a surreal journey into the mind of an obsessed fan, played brilliantly by Rupert Grint, reprising his role from the 2011 “Lego House” video.

Nathalie Emmanuel also appears in the video, which chronicles Grint’s character after his release from prison, a man haunted by the ubiquitous presence of Sheeran.

This visual narrative cleverly blends dark humor with a thoughtful commentary on celebrity and personal demons, culminating in a striking, unexpected twist.

With writing credits from Sheeran, Dave, Blake Slatkin, Cirkut, and Johnny McDaid, and production from Blake Slatkin and Cirkut, the song itself features a unique soundscape, combining a light, airy blend of trumpets and strings with sardonic, ambiguous storytelling.

This track, the fourth preview from his upcoming album Play, set to release on September 12, 2025, continues his tradition of compelling narratives and innovative collaborations.

The single is now available for streaming, and the music video is captivating audiences on YouTube.

Quotable Lyrics:

You think I was born to ruin your life
But you did most of that before I arrived
Some things are broken when you open a box
Stop this, you’ve gone too far, enough is enough

I wish I didn’t care this much, but I do
No one knows the half of it, what you put me through
And I, I sometimes wonder, do you live with regret?
Wish I could say, “I wish you the best”, ’cause

I used to love you
Now every day I hate you just a little more
Life got better when I lost you
But every day I hate you just a little more and more and more
Blame it on your history

And say it’s not your fault
I can’t call you crazy
‘Cause you could be diagnosed
Oh, I used to love you
But every day I hate you just a little more and more and more

I wish that you would look in the mirror ’cause, if you did
You’d see the problem is you ’cause you’re a prick
I know that I’m your scapegoat whenever the rain falls
Whenever you slip or when you’re in a dip

I was there to lean on when I was a kid
But, now that I’m an adult, I see it for what it is
I have to lock the door now, f**k building a bridge
Take all your apologies and put ’em in a bin

For your dad’s sake, please move out your dad’s place
Stop bringing drama there with your mates
Your sister’s got enough to manage on her plate
To worry ’bout you controlling your rage
