Ruin – USHER, Pheelz
“Ruin” is a new single by the multi-platinum Grammy Award-winning artist, Usher, featuring the Nigerian producer Pheelz. The song was released on February 2, 2024, as part of Usher’s forthcoming ninth studio album, “Coming Home,” which is set to be released on February 9, 2024. The song is described as an Afrobeats and Amapiano-infused R&B track.
Usher’s lyrics in this song express regret and heartbreak over a failed relationship, with lines such as “Babe, you broke me and took your time with it. Babe, you gave me all these memories that I regret. All I can do is congratulate. You ruined me for everybody”
Pheelz also contributes a verse, adding an international flair to the song.
The music video for “Ruin” was directed by Dave Meyers, marking a creative reunion between Usher and Meyers, who previously directed the videos for “U Remind Me” and “Risk It All”. The video was shot entirely on an iPhone 15 Pro and uses the concept of home as an allegory for love. Usher’s release comes ahead of his performance at the Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show in Las Vegas on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
