Eminem’s Music To Be Murdered By – Side B Review
After releasing Music To Be Murdered By on Jan. 17, people wondered if Eminem would be releasing more material based on months of social media speculation. Well, he did just that in a surprise re-release last week titled Music To Be Murdered By – Side B. The new sixteen tracks included in this album have shown how much he has continued to grow as a musician and that he’s not planning to slow down anytime soon.
While continuing to release solo work, he collaborated with artists such as DJ Premier, Ty Dolla $ign, Dr. Dre, and Sly Paper. Although Em has always been known to release great work, how did this album compare to the previous Music To Be Murdered By album?
Well, first off, Eminem has used his tracks to bring his thoughts on the current COVID-19 pandemic. One of the most popular songs to come off of his new releases is “Gnat,” which discusses the current pandemic. “They say these bars are like COVID… You get ‘em right off the bat”. In a way, this pandemic has gotten us off the bat, as no one knew this would affect our world in the way it has been since early 2020. Like Em, all of us won’t know when this nightmare will end.
Another thing to point out was a lyric sung by Eminem off of “These Demons (feat. MAJ)”. “I want the new, but old Shady”. People today have wondered whether Em’s music is as good as the music he’s made in the past. After all, Music To Be Murdered By was his eleventh studio album. In his previous albums, Eminem has been known to create feuds with other musicians based on his music, including Moby and Nick Cannon.
However, there were no extreme disses to musicians in these tracks, which, in a way, is a breath of fresh air for Eminem. Whether people prefer his recent music or music from the past, Eminem is still incredible and has continued to show just how talented he is with his re-release of Music To Be Murdered By.
Music To Be Murdered By – Side B is now available on Apple Music and Spotify for those who wish to listen.
